You Think It's Easy Carrying A Coffin Without Dropping It?

No doubt coffins are heavy. But it's probably easier to carry them when you are sober! As reported by The Local: Two sisters are claiming damages [20,000 kronor ($2,895 US] from a firm of funeral directors after their father's coffin was plunged ungracefully into a grave by undertakers unsteady on their feet. During the funeral, which took place in February 2008, they claim a number of undertakers were clearly drunk while being in charge of the coffin. Not cool. As they approached the grave... We're Supposed To Believe You Slept Through That?

Generally, The Juice is not inclined to prejudge a pending action, but, IMHO, THERE IS NO WAY THIS WOMAN SLEPT THROUGH THIS! NFW. As reported by the Chicago Tribune: A Buffalo Grove woman is accused of allowing an underage drinking party in her home after her son and 17 other teenagers were cited over the weekend for unlawful possession and consumption of alcohol, police said Monday. 17 other teenagers! But wait ... Police officers went to the house in response to reports of loud music and... Posted on November 21, 2009 at 09:06 pm

Tell Me You Didn't Taser A 10-Year-Old Girl

I told you not to tell me that! Per Arkansas Online: Ozark Police Chief Jim Noggle said age is not a factor in determining when his officers use a Taser on someone. Noggle said Tuesday that officer Dustin Bradshaw used his Taser last week on a 10-year-old girl who was kicking and combative with Bradshaw after her mother called police. According to a report filed by Bradshaw on Nov. 12, the officer was called to an Ozark home for a domestic problem. The girl was on the floor of the house... Posted on November 20, 2009 at 09:05 pm

    Porn is “inescapable”

Monica Hesse, a writer for the Washington Post, seems to have a porn paranoia issue. Her article "Publicly, a whole new lewdness" has a decidedly Comstockian bent to it. But, the subtitle is even more hilarious: "Everywhere you look, porn is suddenly inescapable." People like Hesse are proof that evolution has [...] Posted on November 19, 2009 at 09:41 pm by marcorandazza

December 1996 - The Court Reporters Have Done It Again! Lynn Brooks of Dallas, who is (among other things) the book review editor of the Journal of Court Reporters, writes: Court: To the charge of driving while intoxicated, how do you plead? A. Drunk. *** Q, And when was that? A. I guess it was sometime before noon or after noon. *** Q. Do you understand my question? A. I think so, but that may be my fault. *** Q. Fake Policeman Stolen

Apparently hoping to save money on law enforcement costs, the county of Essex in the UK has deployed eight life-size cardboard cutouts of police officers, which have been posted in various shops "to deter and confuse would-be criminals." Cardboard cutouts can certainly deter and confuse people, as we saw in 2007 when one of them held a New Jersey SWAT team at bay for 90 minutes while police tried to negotiate with it. But whether they work on would-be criminals remains to be seen. So far, the... Posted on November 23, 2009 at 12:35 am by Kevin

Man Tests Police by Dressing to Match Suspect's Description

I can remember times when I was really, really bored. I mean, really bored. But I don't think I've ever been so bored that I even considered checking a police scanner to get a description of somebody the police were looking for, and then dressing up like that person to see what would happen. Sure, it sounds like fun, and not at all dangerous, but I would probably just turn on the PlayStation instead. But maybe PlayStations are hard to come by in Redding, California. On November 16, police there... Posted on November 20, 2009 at 12:09 am by Kevin

Joe Francis Sentenced to Time Served, Is Now Free to Sleaze Again

Joe Francis, the Girls Gone Wild founder -- or as Gawker.com described him, the "alleged arm-twisting sexual aggressor and loathsome Girls Gone Wild founder" -- was sentenced on November 7 to time already served, and was released into the wild to go back to stalking your daughters. (I think I find this so irritating partly because it makes it that much more difficult for me to stalk them. A Ticket to Walk: Cap'n Crunch and the Other Terrorists

I think I may have underestimated the Pepsi Cola people. This would, after all, be an easy thing to do. SFL Friday -- "Mad Men" And Scott Rothstein

To paraphrase Mark Harris, it seems that Scott Rothstein continues to rule our world. Here's the latest: 1. Bill Scherer sues the firm he used to retain for collection matters. Marc Nurik's reaction -- "This is the first I'm hearing of it." (Check out the email Bob Norman dredged up). 2. Judge Stettin says October was a banner month for the firm, with hundreds of millions moving through RRA accounts. 3. RRA is down from 167 employees to 14. Who are the lucky ones, those that are gone or those... Posted on November 20, 2009 at 07:45 am by South Florida Lawyers

It's Motion to Dismiss Day in Banco Santander Land!

Anyone remember that Banco Santander/Madoff suit pending before Judge Huck? Well it looks like the defendants got together and decided to just bombard the court with motions to dismiss. I'm not sure but I think even Judge Huck filed one, that's how many motions there are to wade through. The main one filed by Banco Santander asserts that the allegations of securities fraud do not have a United States nexus and the securities laws cannot apply extraterritorially. Taking Google Scholar Out For A Test Drive.

Ok, let's get Rothstein out of the way: John Pacenti and the Herald report on how Scott allegedly bilked this investor just weeks before he took off for Morocco. The purported "investment opportunity" is insultingly stupid: The deal offered a return of eight percent per month for the following four months. It involved a purported lawsuit against California-based Dole, which Faulkner said had settled for $500 million in the face of accusations that it had overstated the percentage of pineapple... Another Comment about “No Comment”

Hogeye County Sheriff Zukie Bonnett helped upright a Slyme-Yu Haulers sludge truck yesterday. It overturned in front of the local elementary school and several tons of waste solids from the Yellow River wastewater treatment plant spilled onto the children's playground. Are UFOs Real? And Are We Being Visited By Aliens?

What exactly is a UFO? As most already know, UFO is an acronym for "Unidentified Flying Object."
