The Bell Canada buyout is big - Canada's largest ever - and
the debt markets have been skittish. But Breakingviews suggests it can succeed if the company's new owners don't push the envelope. Meanwhile, the deal's $48 billion price tag is not
the only challenge for Bell Canada's buyers, who are led by the [...]

From Ian Austen, DealBook's colleague in Ottawa: Given that Bell Canada's $51.8 billion leveraged
buyout is already the company's Plan B for improving its share price, there is already speculation about what it will do if loan renegotiation demands from the banks sink the deal.
Bell Canada remains the biggest telecommunications company in Canada and the dominant [...]

The Supreme Court of Canada reserved judgment Tuesday on whether to approve the $51.8 billion leveraged buyout of Bell Canada, the country's largest telecommunications company. The Supreme Court will announce its decision later on
Bell's appeal of a lower court decision that had blocked the buyout deal, which will be financed partly by taking on new [...]

The Quebec Court of Appeal late Wednesday overturned a lower court ruling that approved Bell Canada's
takeover by an investor group, a decision that could potentially kill the $51.8 billion leveraged buyout. The decision came after bondholders in the telecommunications giant sought to
block Bell Canada's sale, arguing that the extra debt that the company would [...]

From Ian Austen, a DealBook colleague: The $52 billion leveraged buyout plan for Bell Canada will
either be much closer to fruition at the end of this work week or in a smoldering ruin. The Supreme Court of Canada said on Thursday that it
will issue its decision on Bell's appeal of a Quebec court decision [...]

The federal government's bailout of Citigroup has sparked a surge of confidence that the $50 billion takeover of Bell Canada - the largest leveraged buyout in history - will close on schedule in December. Investors pushed up shares of Bell Canada's parent, BCE, on Monday by more than 10 percent to as high as 38.30 Canadian [...]

Bell Canada's $50 billion buyout, the largest in history, has hit another potentially serious
obstacle. The telecom giant said on Wednesday that a preliminary report by its auditor, KPMG, found that "given current market conditions," it would not remain solvent once it took on
the $33 billion in debt needed to take it private. Bell Canada [...]

Some event-driven hedge funds won't have much to be thankful for tomorrow. Wednesday's news that Bell Canada's $50 billion leveraged buyout - the largest in history - is in jeopardy will likely hammer several big funds that were gaining confidence the deal
would close on Dec. 11. Among the big names that owned Bell Canada shares [...]

Bell Canada can't seem to persuade KPMG to certify that the Canadian telecommunications giant will be
solvent after its proposed $50 billion leveraged buyout. So the company has commissioned another auditor to produce a more favorable, if nonbinding, opinion. Bell Canada said in an announcement Monday that it has hired PricewaterhouseCoopers to prepare an independent
solvency analysis [...]

From Ian Austen, DealBook's colleague in Canada: The largest leverage buyout in history skirted a potentially crushing blow when the Supreme
Court of Canada ruled in favor of Bell Canada and its

The Bell Canada buyout may have received a stay of execution from the Supreme Court of
