BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- A Ware County paralegal was sentenced to two years for stealing $111,512. Gina A. Wooten, 50, of Waycross, also was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Anthony Alaimo to repay the money she stole through a sophisticated fraud scheme while working for bankruptcy lawyer Edward Smith from July 2004 through Aug. 4, 2006. Wooten, described as a "financial predator," stole and apparently destroyed the law firm's financial ledgers in an attempt to hide the fraud.
