The Associated Press reports that a federal jury has convicted ex-PFC Steven D. Green in the rape and murder of Abeer Qassim al-Janabi and three members of her family. Green now faces the death penalty for his role in the 2006 killings in Mahmudiya.

The Federal government posted a new policy on its website concerning resident aliens who obtained their green card through asylum. Now, such aliens risk losing their status if they return home even for a short visit--for a funeral, for example. This is a surprising shift in policy and leads me to question whether it is outside the bounds of the law. Expect a challenge once a good fact pattern has been found.
