Corporate and securities attorney Allen Sussman joined Reed Smith's Los Angeles office as a partner. Sussman was previously a partner at the L.A. office of Morrison & Foerster, representing public and private issuers, banks, broker-dealers and underwriters in securities matters. Before going private, Sussman was an enforcement attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in the 1990s.

Reed Smith attorney Jim Martin was elected the next president of the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the bar association. Martin, who's focused on appellate law for three decades, is a fellow and director in the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and a member and former president of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers. The current president of the foundation is Steptoe & Johnson's Katessa Charles Davis.
