The Daily Southtown is reporting here that former Justice Mayor Melvin VanAllen was sentenced today to three years in prison after being convicted of 28 counts of bankruptcy fraud involving concealing assets and making false statement in his bankruptcy case. Melvin D. Van Allen, Jr., whose indictment (available here) and 36 month sentence in the Northern District of Illinois were previously reported here and here, has filed a notice of appeal of both the conviction and sentence to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
