New Hampshire - The Sierra Club is challenging a logging project in the White Mountains National Forest claiming that the logging is being done in a roadless area. The Sierra Club is trying to join a lawsuit filed by Environmental Defense that would block the TX governor's plan to speed the approval process for the construction of 18 new coal-fired power plants. The lawsuit seeks to overturn an order that would speed up consideration of permits for the plants. The Telegraph-Journal (New Brunswick, Canada) reports that local citizens are forming a Quoddy branch of the Sierra Club of Canada. According to the news report, one of the Quoddy branch's main priorities will be to oppose the LNG terminals proposed for Passamaquoddy Bay. The group's initial meeting will be held Tuesday evening.
