The only good part about watching the Celtics lose their 13th straight game last night? Changing the channel to watch Texas's Kevin Durant put up 37 and 23 against Texas Tech, and knowing the Celtics are so bad that they should have the best chance to draft Durant, who will an NBA star, in June. Of course, either by bad luck or by Danny Ainge's brilliance the Celtics could wind up with an overrated player who will be mediocre in the NBA (like, say, this guy). But for now, there is hope.

NBA referee and resident hothead Joey Crawford has been suspended through at least the end of this year's playoffs for ejecting Tim Duncan from a recent game for laughing while on the bench. If you watch the video, the ejection seems clearly unwarranted: What's interesting about all this from my perspective is the confirmation the backdrop to this episode offers for a core part of my approach to corporate governance. Even granting that some element of subjective judgment necessarily enters into determining what counts as an "altercation," clearly what was occurring when Stoudemire and Diaw left the bench was much more of an altercation than what was occurring when San Antonio Spurs Tim Duncan and Bruce Bowen left the bench earlier in the game. As a Spurs fan, my hope is that the Cavs won't have an answer for Tim Duncan or Tony Parker (most teams don't), Manu Ginobili takes over games in stretches, and the numerous Spur outside shooters keep their touch.
