Online marketing company ValueClick Inc. it was optimistic it would soon settle a Federal Trade Commission investigation into some of its Web sites, possibly in the first quarter. Online advertiser ValueClick Inc has agreed to pay $2.9 million to settle charges that one of its subsidiaries deceived consumers when it promised free plasma televisions, iPods and other expensive gifts, the Federal Trade Commission said.
