On July 25, 2013, Corporate Properties Associates 16 (CPA 16) entered into a merger agreement with the publicly traded REIT, W.P Carey Inc (NYSE: WPC). Although the merger will provide liquidity to CPA 16 investors, many are still concerned. On May 17, 2012, FAA published in the Federal Register a “Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM); Reopening of Comment Period” for “Rules of Practice for Federally Assisted Airport Enforcement Proceedings (Retrospective Regulatory Review)” first published in March, 2012.  In plain language, FAA is making substantial changes to the procedures for bringing a challenge to airports’ compliance with FAA grant assurances under 14 C.F.R. The law against driving under the influence in Illinois has enhanced penalties where the defendant was transporting a child passenger. The DUI statute in Illinois is 625 ILCS 5/11-501. A first offense is a Class A misdemeanor offense. The sentencing range is up to one year in jail and a possible fine of $2,500. But where the driver has a passenger who was younger than 16 years old, the sentence increases under 625 ILCS 5/11-501(c)(3). This Summer, motorists who owe money at Nassau County traffic court located at 16 Cooper Street, Hempstead will be given a one-time “get out of jail free” card.  In an effort to close, its budget gap, the County will grant amnesty to scoffflaws.  Specifically, during this time, motorists can get the amount they owe for un-paid Nassau County parking tickets reduced. Started today, May 16, 2011, the Nassau County Traffic & Parking Violations Agency will be offering amnesty to parking ticket scofflaws, as reported by us last week.  The amnesty covers all parking tickets returnable at the Nassau County Traffic & Parking Violations Agency located at 16 Cooper Street, Hempstead, and issued before January 1, 2010.  The amnesty ends on July 1, 2011. The Government has introduced new legislation into the Corporation Tax Acts covering Extra-Statutory Concession C16 (ESC C16) which took effect on 1 March 2012. Previously, with the prior consent of HMRC, distributions to shareholders as part of an informal winding-up prior to a company being struck off the Companies Register, were taxed as a capital receipt. SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A 31-year-old woman was viciously attacked by two dogs at about 10:35 a.m. Sunday, The Press-Enterprise reports. The woman, whose name was not released, was walking her pets along the 200 block of East O Street in south Colton, when two dogs, described as American bull dogs, charged and fought her pets, then attacked the woman. YOLO COUNTY -- A head-on collision involving a big-rig and a pickup truck left two injured and one dead Wednesday afternoon, The Sacramento Bee Reports. The accident occurred just before 1 p.m. in Yolo County, when a big-rig, driven by a 36-year-old woman, crossed the centerline on Highway 16 and collided head-on with a Ford F-250 pickup truck.
