Jonah Goldberg tells us how he really feels about Helen Thomas: And when I say a nasty piece of work, I don't simply mean her opinions on Israel. She's been full-spectrum awful. I've known a few people who knew her 40 years ago, and she was slimy then too... Also, let's just get the liberal bias thing out of the way. If there was a right-winger who'd spouted so much bile, hate, and ideological agenda-driven nonsense in the White House briefing room for half a century it would be . . . oh wait, no… [read post]

Image via WikipediaThe presidential press conference game of Musical Chairs set in motion by 89-year-old Helen Thomas' resignation and vacating of her front-row, center seat [see "TUOL" post 6/17/10] has ended with the White House Correspondents Association ("WHCA") Board's unanimous selection of Fox News to occupy a hallowed position in the front row.The WHCA cited Fox's commitment to the White House press tv pool and its length of service as the basis for rewarding the news organization with the… [read post]

It is one thing for Helen Thomas, an almost 90 year old White House correspondent to have extreme politics but it seems to be time for her to call it a career and retire to an old age home for anti-Semitic  morons. While perusing a site called the Jewish Internet Defense Force, I came across of video of Ms. Thomas  expressing  her views on the the Palestinian conflict.  I don’t agree with them but this is America and she is entitled to her opinion.  I was however stunned when to make her… [read post]

Image by Getty Images via @daylifeWhite House correspondents seem to take in stride the dearth of presidential press conferences, the administration's recalcitrance in producing White House visitor logs, and their own increasing irrelevance, but now the American public knows what gets the dander up of the creme de la creme of the Fourth Estate--Who gets to sit in former UPI icon Helen Thomas' front row seat?Since the 89-year-old Thomas' ill-conceived remarks about Israel's Gaza presence prompted her… [read post]

The  use of of extreme rhetoric to stand out above the  noise is becoming more and more commonplace in the 21st Century media free-for-all hate incubator. One has to wonder if we have seen the end of reasoned rhetoric in our lifetimes. Right after Helen Thomas graced us with her views on Jews and her sensitivity to the  Holocaust, we can add California State Attorney General Jerry Brown to the list of those who feel the need cast reasoned rhetoric aside, engaging in what could be viewed as hate… [read post]

Two months ago, after Helen Thomas was unceremoniously kicked out of the White House press corps for her off-the-job statements about Palestine, the talk started about who was going to get her front row real estate for the daily press briefings.  The competition apparently has came down to a match between NPR and FOX News, and it looks like FIX FOX has won. I just wanted to remind Robert Gibbs and the others that I gave them another choice that would have satisfied a key constituency.  Maybe I… [read post]

Ed. note: Due to the Presidents’ Day holiday, we will be on a reduced publication schedule today. We will still be publishing, but less frequently than usual. We will be back in full force tomorrow. * With a perfect record for equality post-Windsor and four appellate courts soon set to rule, it looks like the Supreme Court will get a second bite at the gay marriage apple by 2015.
