At about 7:20 a.m. on Monday, June 17, a seven-vehicle collision on Interstate 15 injured seven people in San Diego. The accident, which involved a semi truck, occurred on the northbound side of the freeway south of Miramar Road. Emergency responders transported seven people to area hospitals. Last year, 23-year-old Timmy Ngoc Nguyen hit a bicyclist and his young daughter who was along for the ride in a trailer attached to the bike. Now, the Gonzaga student, who is studying law, will spend one year in prison. Nguyen pleaded guilty to hit-and-run assault. He was also ordered to pay over $37,000 in restitution. While drunk drivers aren’t necessarily known for their intelligence, we may have found a new low in the world of impaired driving in the form of 26-year-old Omar Medina. At about 4:35 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 48-year-old Fernando Lopez, 53-year-old David Becker, and 59-year-old Maryann Looram were injured in a crash with a wrong-way driver in Agua Dulce. While traveling southbound on the northbound 14 Freeway in a white Dodge pickup truck, 54-year-old Rick Allen Walker collided head-on with another vehicle at Vasquez Rocks, triggering a chain-reaction accident involving nine vehicles. Kids are by far the most precious cargo that we transport in our vehicles. A woman was driving through the Central Distric in Seattle when she rammed her blue Honda into a light pole. The two passengers in her car, a 7-year-old girl and a second child whose age has not yet been released, were both injured and taken to the hospital. Thomaston resident, Ralph William Moore, Jr., was killed in an early morning car accident on Highway 36 Monday. Samantha Schaub, 21, of Indianapolis Indiana was headed north on Monday, June 17, 2013 when her 1997 Ford Explorer suddenly crossed the median and crashed into a Jeep which was headed south on  I-79 near Morgantown, WV. A state bill that would suspend the licenses of teens and other new drivers caught texting behind the wheel has gained a groundswell of support, most recently passing the state senate in its likely bid to become law. Having already gained approval from the assembly, the measure now goes to the desk of Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Jeffrey Hirt and James Morin were in a Coconut Creek, Florida collision on Saturday that ended with Hirt dead, sources indicate. Police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and have not said whether charges are expected. In one of the worst local vehicle collision cases I can remember, a catastrophe unfolded late Saturday night when three Good Samaritans -- a mother and her daughter who lived in a house at the side of the collision site and a youth minister driving back to his church after his son had graduated from high school were killed, along with the driver of the stranded vehicle. A Spring Hill man died earlier this month after he was involved in a head-on crash with a school bus. The crash happened June 3 at 2:21 p.m. on Elgin Boulevard, just east of Sterling Hill Boulevard.
