Hans Reiser, whose Namesys company developed widely-used software, was convicted of murdering his Russian wife Nina in 2008. Toyota said that the company has settled the first lawsuit out of hundreds of wrongful death cases involving unintended acceleration. The agreement was reached in a case filed by the family of Charlene Jones Lloyd and Paul Van Alfen. The two were killed when the Toyota Camry they were driving ran into a wall in 2010. The family of a car accident victim has filed a multi-million dollar wrongful death lawsuit against the estate of Houston, Texas, attorney John O’Quinn. A 90-year-old nursing home resident is once again in the hospital for treatment of ongiong ear infections caused by an infestation of maggots allegedly acquired while living in a local nursing home.
