It's not that the regulators don't have the discretion to allow the bank to attempt to recover (the linked article correctly notes that the FDIC can give a bank up to 270 days to recover under "prompt corrective action" standards), but, in light of the criticism of the OCC by the FDIC in not clamping down more quickly on failed institutions like First National Bank of Keystone, West Virginia, some of us believed that the FDIC would be quick to pull the trigger… [read post]
