Photographers can’t tell whether group registrations of photographs will be considered a “one work” registration, defined in the Federal Register as: Registration of a basic claim in an original work of authorship: Single author, same claimant, one work, not a work made for hire, filed electronically for $45 or whether group registrations will fall under: All other claims filed electronically for $65 If $45, then the new fee will be only $10 more. I don’t think this is on-line, but in an August 8 opinoin (07-02), the Iowa State Bar Association Committee on Ethics and Practice Guidelines addressed an interesting prospective client problem:   the lawyer has a personal contact with a prospective client, gains confidences, but while in the process of deciding whether to take the case, he receives an unsolicited e-mail from the party that the prospective client needs to sue. He talked about how the Internet was founded without measurement built in - i.e. it’s different from other networks in that you can’t see who/how many connections (i.e. as compared to subscribers on a mobile network or AOL etc), BBC/CNN even have an idea (through Nielsen etc) - but “there’s no Internet to ask” (and even things like IP addresses are imprecise - Yemen uses a single IP address for all connections!).
