Challenges to LWOP as being some sort of gracious alternative to death was the subject of a post by Jeff Gamso, where he pointed out that it was as much a death sentence, but only took longer to execute.Taken individually, it's easy to understand how one could support both the abolition of the death penalty as well as life without parole.
