I won’t belabor the point in this post: I’ll simply suggest that the work of two of my favorite authors in thinking about low-level courts, Sasha Natapoff at Loyola Los Angeles (where I spent a terrific semester visiting in the Fall) and Erin Murphy at NYU provide some terrific discussions of the manner in which low-level processing at the margins of the criminal justice system has a massive impact on offenders.
