I wanted to weigh in on Naomi's post on habeas corpus in times of emergency and reflect a little on the status of the writ in international human rights law and on the pragmatic reasons for ensuring habeas corpus in line with international legal standards.First of all it appears that habeas corpus is, as Naomi rightly pointed out, non-derogable in at least the ICCPR and Inter-American systems.
