Chrysler received $4 billion in federal bridge loans. [7] In the same effort to revive the failing industry, GM was granted $9.4 billion in federal loans and a Treasury Department loan of $6 billion. [8] While Ford has taken a backseat to GM and Chrysler in this bailout, they too requested a $9 billion line of credit from Congress.
