Others have taken a kind of opposite view that a person with a chair at a lower ranked school will be harder to move, particularly if the hiring school doesn't have a chair to offer, although I've known chaired profs who have said they would be willing to give up a chair to move schools - but hiring committees may assume the opposite and may simply not call those potential candidates.And is there any correlation with article placements?  [read post]
