In order to reach the decision, the board found evidence that a “substantial composite” of the Native American population found the term “Redskins” to be disparaging.[1]  The ruling exposes the Redskins club to trademark infringement scenarios where other companies would be able to turn a profit through the use of their marks, but does not actually force them to abandon their name.
