Another simple truth is that it is harder to get conventional financing for properties in common interest developments because the largest purchasers of residential loans in the country - namely FNMA and FHLMC (more commonly known as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - sounds like something right out of the Flintstones) have limits on purchasing loans in high percentage rental communities.
