Post, which I just taught: Post’s problem with someone swooping in to deprive him of the benefits of the hunt could be solved by gearing up the way fishermen gear up, which is to say by innovating (perhaps adding sniper rifles to the hunt), but that would’ve changed the meaning of the hunt in ways inconsistent with its signification of aristocracy.
