The Hawaiian hawk remains on Audubon's watch list, but according to recent FWS surveys, insufficient information exists to justify the earlier proposed rule to reclassify the Hawaiian hawk as threatened, and due to implementation of recovery actions and other conservation efforts, FWS believes that the Hawaiian hawk is broadly distributed throughout the island of Hawaii.
