Christopher Kernich died on the morning of November 15, 2009; he and several other Kent State students had gotten into a fight, and the evidence was that Arian Barker came running up behind Kernich and hit him in the back of the head, knocking him down, and Barker and Robert Kelly proceeded to kick Kernich while he lay on the ground.
