The week after Christmas may be a slow week for law-related work, but the SBPS office in Marshall was busy this morning anyway, hosting 15 Boy Scouts of Troop 550, including my oldest, Grayson, who were attending a four-day merit badge workshop. [read post]

Maybe there was something important going on in the Eastern District of Texas tonight, but if there was, I missed it spending a cold, blustery evening at Marshall's Airport Park watching my seven year olds Collin and Parker of SBPS' White Sox playing their opener against the Nationals (sponsored by Sparky Clean Express Wash), who squeaked out a win 14-4 in the fourth inning. The old wagon wheel hub (it's actually sheet metal and oversized for display purposes) that's been outside the historic Hub Shoe Store on Austin Street in downtown Marshall since 1897 (and shown here in a 1910 postcard next to a horse-drawn wagon and 1917-ish photo)  started getting a new paint job today,  Its successor sign marking the new offices for SBPS in Marshall is hanging next to it. I am pleased to report that the newly renovated offices for Siebman, Burg, Phillips & Smith, LLP in Marshall as well as the adjacent The Hub Offices rental space  both received Preservation Awards from the Harrison County Historical Commission and the Marshall Historic Landmark Preservation Board this afternoon in a ceremony in the courtroom of the historic Harrison County Courthouse (which is featured on the cover of the Texas Historical Commission's Medallion magazine this… [read post]
