Because football and television markets drive the process, Kansas is not attractive to any of of the major conferences (Big---, SEC, or Pac---)*, so it is going to end up in the Mountain West, an inferior (at least right now) conference, with hopes and dreams of joining the big boys but having a ways to go. To complete my review of these developments, the least controversial part of this story is that Boise State is going to the Mountain West conference, improving the likelihood that the MWC will get an automatic BCS bid. [read post]

The BCS Commissioners may just try and substitute a reconstituted Mountain West for one of the two and call the other spot an at-large spot and see if they can convince ESPN to go along. [read post]
