Spain was a bit of an anomaly this tournament by playing Villa and Torres up top, but if you watch carefully, the Spanish response was to play a sort of diamond midfield, with Marco Senna withdrawn as a holding midfielder and the remainder of the line providing lots of lateral movement as well as feeding balls to the top line.
