Actually, I would say the view among European human rights advocates back then, particularly those who worked in the laws of war, was that Nuremberg was essentially an American production, and that its moral appeal was distinctly American, focused on the Holocaust and the concerns of American Jews - many, of course, refugees or children of refugees - and peculiarly American in its focus on moralizing rather than sources of law as such, meaning the Conventions and the Charter.
