In an attempt to stop AES from constructing the Sparrows Point LNG terminal in Dundalk, Md., the Baltimore County Council last night unanimously approved new  legislation  that adds LNG facilities to a list of prohibited uses in environmentally sensitive coastal areas of Chesapeake Bay. [read post]

AES Corp., the company backing the Sparrows Point LNG project, has appealed a federal district court ruling that upheld a Baltimore County  zoning ordinance  that prohibits the construction of LNG facilities in certain environmentally sensitive areas in Baltimore County, Md., the Associated Press (carried via  Baltimore Examiner) reports. The editors of  The Freeport News  say that since the Bahamian government already has performed its due diligence and purportedly has  decided to allow the construction of AES Corporation's LNG pipeline from Ocean Cay to Florida,  it "should stop vacillating on this issue and grant not one, but two and possibly three pipeline licenses.
