In the states of Connecticut, New York, Indiana and California—under a national program called the Partnership for Long-Term Care which was initiated by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation—various amounts of assets are exempt for Medicaid purposes for persons who have LTC insurance policies that meet state certification standards.(3) Accordingly, persons in those states should have ample reason to look at insurance as a way of preserving their homes.
