The DDE argument appears satisfying since it not only justifies terminal sedation but it also differentiates the act from euthanasia and physician-assisted death.However, I am not convinced applying the DDE is enough to show the moral permissibility of terminal sedation if one actually wants to take a Thomistic approach to the issue.
