Indeed, we were not aware that it was the job of the NCAA, an athletic association, to be concerned about the "essential mission of our universities", which at every college in the land is presumably in the hands of many separate people in part specifically PAID to be concerned about it, and by that we mean not only the college administration, faculty and staff, but we include here also the taxpayers (to state universities), donors (private and corporate), alumni and sports fans.
