The January 2018 rescission order claims that market forces will satisfy consumer preferences for net neutrality and that a government mandate would stifle innovation.I happen to think that the Obama-era policy of net neutrality was a good idea because of the oligopolistic nature of the ISP market (which limits the impact of consumer choice) and because open access to the internet for all content providers serves not just consumer welfare but also democratic values.
