There was a deal with France that involved the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline that resulted in Germany's consent to upload filters despite a clear wording in the CDU/CSU's written coalition agreement with the SPD; and the CDU's Axel Voss MEP rose to negative fame as the European Parliament's rapporteur in charge of the directive, while the SPD, not unanimously but overwhelmingly, voted against the bill in the European Parliament's March 26 plenary vote.
