In context this article is essentially stating that the married woman cannot be forced to enter gainful employment and as the primary carer of the children of the marriage has a special role in the raising of these children which must be protected by the State, whereas (as per the Supreme Court in G v An Bord Uchtala) the unmarried mother and her child do not constitute a family within the meaning of Art 41 and as such do not enjoy the protection of the Article.
