Just to put this comparison to the 2016 litigation rate into perspective, keep in mind that Cornerstone Research noted in its 2016 annual review of securities class action lawsuit filings with respect to the 2016 litigation rate, “the litigation exposure of U.S. exchange-listed companies was greater [in 2016] than in any prior year” – and the litigation rate for the first quarter of 2017 was nearly double the 2016 rate!
