The traditional goal of making an adult consumer responsible for his or her own financial decisions, and insuring that the law and regulatory scheme do their best to ensure that the consumer receives adequate, accurate information in an understandable form to make a fully informed decision (should he or she decide to fully inform themselves), is contrary to what appears to be the goal of people like Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and now, John Edwards.
