As a practical matter, one would think that a state that is opposed as a matter of policy to same-sex marriages would be eager to declare void any such marriage of its residents, but the real question is whether the "benefit of divorce" (that is, of having an orderly judicial process to dissolve a legal relationship and distribute the assets and determinate the responsibilities of the parties) should be made available in this kind of case.
