In the linked cases of R (on the application of Catt) v Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis & Anor and another case [2015] UKSC 9 (Case Comment here), the Court was asked to consider whether the retention of records by the police relating to acts that occurred in public (in these cases, protesting and an argument with a neighbour) could be contrary to the right to privacy.
