There was much speculation as to whether the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents and the Institute of Trade Mark Agents (as those bodies then were) would merge and many amicable feelers were put out, but it nothing happened.On the organisational front MARQUES, ECTA, PTMG and the ACG did not exist.
