If the insurance company does not pay the benefits within those 30 days, you may be entitled to a 50% penalty in addition to what you are owed.For example, if the Court enters an Award on January 1 that you are entitled to $20,000, and if the insurance company does not pay, or at least mail the check, by January 31, you would be entitled to a total of $30,000 ($20,000 plus $10,000 for the 50% penalty).
