On May 31, the First Circuit  unanimously affirmed the judgment of the Massachusetts federal district court that Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act, which provides that, for purposes of federal law, marriage is “only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife,”  is unconstitutional.
