The Federal Court of Appeal of Canada has reversed an earlier ruling of the lower court and has issued an order prohibiting regulatory approval of Ranbaxy’s product in Canada until Pfizer’s patent expires.Ranbaxy may appeal to the Canadian Supreme Court.Earlier, the lower court had ruled that Ranbaxy infringed one of the two patents [i.e. infringed the compound but not the Ca salt patent].
