  The story is that the four men (a fourth defendant, Gary Timmins, pled guilty in the case last year and is, presumably, turning state's witness against the other three) were looking for an "easy mark" to rob, so they used a gay-oriented chat room to lure Sandy to a meeting on a beach that was known as a gay hangout place, with the intention of robbing him.
