Once it is decided that a crime is eligible for expungement, the petitioner should: Collect copies of the criminal record Fill out the appropriate forms File the forms with the Illinois Circuit Clerk Attend court hearing with all relevant material If the petition is denied, ask for reconsideration  A crime will most likely be expunged if the person has no prior history of criminal behavior. The spring election ultimately was held on April 7 as scheduled, however, the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin extended the period for municipal clerks to receive absentee ballots from election day to April 13, with the United States Supreme Court holding that absentee ballots hand-delivered or postmarked by April 7 could be received by municipal clerks through April 13.
