House Bill (HB) 609 - which has already passed - and Senate Bill (SB) 862 are both titled "Wage Protection For Employees" - although critics believe these bills would actually weaken those protections, making it more difficult for victims of wage theft to hold employers legally liable for lost pay, while restricting or eliminating their right to sue for additional damages and prohibiting them from joining in on class action wage theft lawsuits.
