Actually, the discussion over the proposed rule, Alcohol and Drug-Free Mines: Policy, Prohibitions, Testing, Training, and Assistance, which was proposed on September 8th, deserves more than my tongue-in-cheek response accords it.Instead it illustrates that even on things that are clearly just good common sense, any policy adopted to achieve such a goal is quite likely to be more involved and nuanced than it might seem on first blush. She had gone "naked" for a year but bought a policy with him.In most case, carriers impose pre-ex limitations when you purchase individual major medical and have not had coverage in the prior 63 days.That was part of their offer here as well.Shortly after the policy was issued she had a GYN exam where early stage cervical cancer was discovered.The bad news is, she has cancer.The good news is, the carrier will pay the claim.The contractual thing for the carrier to do would be to… [read post]

He had his day in court, and although we kept the fine right down at the bottom of the scale he still had to pay a few hundred pounds in costs to the CPS, not to mention the ludicrous victim surcharge.He will never read this, but if he did, I would like to be able to tell him that despite losing his case he left the court with his dignity and his good name intact.
