  Not long after that, the developer of the app, Yuri Selukoff (whose mother, by the way, was a patent attorney), obtained a difficult-to-receive EB-1 Visa (reserved for foreign nationals with extraordinary abilities) and moved from Moscow to San Francisco, as described in this interesting profile of Selukoff from a 2016 post on the Inside BlackBerry blog, which I'm surprised to see is still online.
