It was only after the fall of Kabul in August 2021 that the then-new ICC Prosecutor – the very same man who on Monday announced the Israelii arrest warrants, Karim Khan – re-opened the political door by essentially announcing that he was no longer pursuing the torture allegations against U.S. persons but rather would turn his attention to allegations against ISIS and the Taliban.
